Collier's Pix

We gave Collier one of Justin's old blackberry phones that no longer has service.  His very own "done' [all of his F sounds are d which is very dunny sometimes].  I showed him how it could take pictures and he loves that he can take is very own pictures.  He'll take a picture of something and hold the phone straight out with so much pride to show us and say 'look momma it's:
my sippie
 my shoe
 my calclator
Kenwey's pas
 Daddy's dashwite
 there I am
dere's the inside of your cup
 Daddy...say cheese
 Daddy''s Doot
 Dere's my gun
 My goggles
 Dere you are with Kenwey
 Momma say cheese
dere I am[again..there is just not enough room on this blog to post all of the pictures he takes of himself.  Just like his DADDY....
 Kenwey's toys
 Daddy

He told us to sneeze in these and let him take our pictures:blurry but funny that he made us fake sneeze so that he could snap our picture.

It makes us laugh at the pride that he takes in all of his pictures.  I think that the fact that it is HIS 'done' and that he can do it all by himself and I won't tell him no about using it or taking pictures.  We have had to delete a few since he has captured Justin peeing and me with Kenley just about to eat. Such a silly little man...

4 Months

Kenley is 4 months today!  We had her 4 month appointment this week, it was a great appointment and everything checked out perfectly.  The girl is growing people!  She weighed 14.5LB which put her in the 60th percentile and measured 25.25" long which is in the 90th percentile for height!  No worries with this little one growing and developing.  She has met and exceeded all of her development stages that they ask at all of the appointments.  She coo'd and smiled for the nurses and doctors and then the shots came and it was all O.V.E.R!  She slept pretty good the rest of the afternoon but then she was up and very unsettled and fussy [as in screaming].   I could tell she was in pain, and it breaks my heart.  I was pumping tylenol in her as often as I am allowed, bless her little heart!
Collier also went with me to this appointment.  This is the first time he has gone to one of her appointments [actually the first time I've taken both to the doctor at all].  He was just along for the ride.  But I told him that Kenley was going to have to have shots and he asked a lot of questions about them. Why does she have to have shots?  What will the Doctor do?  What will happen?  Does it hurt?   But when we got in the room and he realized that it was almost time for her to get shots he started to get sort of upset and his expression was very worried.  I told him he could stand in the hall if he needed to and didn't want to see the shots.  When the nurse came in with the shots he bolted for the door.  she told him he could stand out there and I could hear the Nurse Practioner talking to him, she was so sweet.  But he was so worried about Kenley and the shots and how and why they hurt her!  So sweet hearted, he is really starting to come around and maybe even starting to love her!

Here is the rundown of Kenley at 4 months:

  • Exclusively breastfeeding - eats about every 3 hours
  • Sleeps about 7 hours at night - still waking up around 3am-4am to eat but thankfully goes back to sleep until about 7:30am>
  • She is still in the bassinet right next to my bed...this certainly makes that early morning feeding easier for me.  Once she is in her bed, I will have to actually get up out of my bed>
  • Wearing 3-6 month clothes
  • Rolling over - both directions and loves tummy time
  • Sits in her bumbo, jumpy and exasaucer very well
  • Spit up is still at a high level - taking Zantac for reflux [not as bad as Collier was]
  • She does like her passey...although she is sucking and chewing on her fingers a lot
  • Giggling - she just started this week giggling when you tickle her toes.  She has moments when you are talking to her that she will laugh, but this is the first of her giggling at being tickled.
  • Full of smiles and loves for anyone to look at her straight in her face and talk to her, she will coo back.
  • Likes to take a bath and kick and splash - makes a huge mess in the kitchen.  But I am loving giving her bath's in the kitchen sink.  We couldn't do that with Collier because our sink was divided and too small, but since we redid the kitchen counter tops and got the bigger sink it is awesome.
  • She has started to reach and grab what she is reaching for...this is new just this week.  She has been trying to reach for about a week but was able to grab a few things this week.  Very fun and so proud when she does.  Especially the toys on the exasaucer and bumbo.

Rolling through the 4th

Early Saturday morning Kenley was stirring and I sat up to check on her and she was on her tummy with her arms under her ans head held high...what in the world.  She rolled over from her back to tummy for the first time in the middle of the night. I didn't even get to cheer her on. I rolled her back over and by morning she was rolled over again and sound asleep - almost face down. Justin made me turn her back over, but I think that she likes sleeping on her tummy.  Almost 4 months and rolling over.

Kenley loves tummy time and has never really fussed about it.  Collier hated it from the very first time I ever placed him on his tummy.  Which may be why he was so late to roll and even crawl.  I can't find when Collier rolled over for the first time, it may be because he really never did.  He could but didn't because he screamed any time I put him on his tummy.

We spent July 4th at the lake and it was a little tricky since the 4th was in the middle of the week, but we were so happy to get to be down there...thanks for having a really awesome and flexible employer who will let me work from anywhere from time to time!  We went out on the boat for most of the fireworks, Collier hasn't really loved fireworks up to this point.  We thought being out on the boat would be better and not so loud.  We stayed out as long as he would let us and then he was just ready to go back home...our time was really bad.  As soon as we got off the boat Justin noticed that our neighbors were about to start theirs... Mom rushed Collier up to the house, as I walked up the front steps they lit the first one and it was as loud as a cannon [not that i've had any exposure to cannon's but would expect them to be very loud].  It rattled our house it was so loud...Pretty and fun but loud...well Collier lost it, completely freaked out and was terrified.  He made my mom get under her covers in her bed with his DVD/movie going.  As soon as those were done a few houses down started and somehow those were even louder than our neighbors.  Needless to say Collier was a tense mess before they were all over. Anytime I opened the door to check on him he cried for me to close the door.

We spent the rest of the weekend in the water or inside. Lots of swimming, splashing and boat rides to pass by the very hot days.  We desperately need rain at the lake because it is so low.  It is getting almost too low to even put the boat in the water, which makes me so sad.  I have never seen the lake this low [Chris says he has] but we are praying for a good hard rain to fill up our little lake.

Insragram

Yeppers...my latest  favorite media obsession is Instagram. (sceleste226) All of these social media, blogs and pinning boards are really enough to occupy a full time job.  Mommy plus real job doesn't leave much time right now but in the little free time I do I have I enjoyed Instagram.  Are you on it? Please leave me your name and I will love following you!!!!
Here are a few of my favorite

Saturday morning Justin mowed the grass in blazing hot temperatures.  Collier only lasted about 20 minutes due to the heat.  He loves to help and especially mow!  He was sure to wear his 'visor hat' just like daddy too.

CH and I went to the pool on Friday and only got out long enough to have a sip of juice...it was so hot this weekend.

Sweet Kenley...Aunt Linz gave this precious dress to her!

Smiling and giggling

on our way home from Jacksonville.  It was definitely a jammie day.  He snuggled with Ginger and Maurice during his naps on our long trip back home after all the wedding festivities

This is his highlight and reward anytime we go to lowes or home depot. Am I the only mom who lets their little one drive all the tractors? He moves from one to another 'driving' each one and pushing the buttons and levers.  I am sure the employee's appreciate this :)  He loves it and it usually makes my trips much easier.

Mommy Duties at Work

Since I am back at work and not with Kenley through the day, I am pumping at work.  It is always interesting because I work in an office with mostly men [only 3 girls].  And to make the situation even more complicated all of our office's have a narrow floor to ceiling window next to our door out into the hallway...Privacy, not so much!  We do have a small private bathroom but I really hate to occupy it for 20 minutes at a time several times a day.  So, I had Justin come and install a shade over my office window and I just close it and put a HUGE sign on the door saying not to enter.  I also slide a chair behind the door [no locks on the doors] - just in case.  I also have two large windows to outside but the glass on the outside of our building is reflective - it looks like a mirror, so I never close my blinds because I know that no one can see in.  EXCEPT if it is darker outside than inside and you have a light on you can see through the reflective glass...and well today was dark and rainy and I got myself all situated and pumping away and suddenly I looked outside and realized how dark it was.  I froze.  I saw one of our employees standing at his car right outside my window.  I put my head down, praying he didn't look toward the building,  thinking I may could duck lower than the window sill.  Nope.  So I slid down out of my chair on to the floor.  oh and let me add; I don't have a hands free pump.  I am trying to keep everything on, if you know what I mean,  plus have the pump in my lap.  All I can think...'did he see me and could he tell/see what I was doing?'  YIKES.  I am still not sure.  When I left for lunch I drove by my window to see what I could see from the parking lot into my office...thankfully I couldn't see anything in.  But it had stopped raining by this time too. Needless to say the blinds are tightly closed now, no matter the weather :)  Geez!

Wedding Day

Wedding day arrived and we were so excited.  Justin and I were determined to get Collier to nap before we had to be at the church for pictures, and he did.  I had to wake him up to get a shower and to the church on time...it was like waking a little monster.  He was whiney and fussy from the moment I woke him up until just before the service.  We arrived at the church and it was so HOT inside and outside.  Due to an overbooking of the church they didn't get to take pictures before, like planned, but I think it really worked out better.  I am a sucker for a bride to wait to see her hubby-to-be until she is walking down the isle to say their vows, I just love it and that is exactly what happened.   Cami was such a beautiful bride!

My little monster kept crying and telling me that he wasn't going to walk down the isle.  He wanted to go and see Nammy and Daddy.  He has been talking about this day and anticipating this day for months and now he is saying he doesn't want to.  It wasn't an option and I was going to do everything I could to be sure he went down that isle by.him.self....The Deacon told me if I needed to walk with him I could but there was NO way I was about to do that.  I told Collier all he had to do was follow behind Taylor and Madison and once he got down the isle he could come and sit with us and that Daddy has some M&Ms and a surprise for him; but he had to walk the isle by himself and be a big boy.  [bribe, negotiate, beg] He kept telling me he didn't want to and I was really starting to stress.  But then we got the 5 minutes warning and all of the bridesmaids starting lining up and I got his super duper suit all put back on and suddenly he was ready and no longer hesitating.   Except he wouldn't even hold the pillow...pillow wasn't going but he was and I was fine with that.  Taylor started walking and Collier was right behind her, the Deacon told him to stop and wait and told him he had forgotten something.  Grabbed the pillow from me handed it to Collier and off he went.  Perfectly down that isle; pillow and all.  I was finally relieved. When everyone sat down Collier joined us and immediatley wanted his prize...and then he proceeded to remove all of the pieces of his tux, if he had removed anything more we would have had a naked little ring bearer in the chruch!

Mom and Dad brought Kenley and she only cried one little time and slept the rest of the service, until everyone clapped at the annoucement of Mr. and Mrs. Hockaday! We then had to put Collier back together for a third time for pictures.  I fed Kenley while they took pictures, so I missed that and can only hope he gave a pretty smile and not that horrible cheese smile...but we'll just have to wait and see.
Aunt Christie had asked if Collier could ride in the limo with the wedding party from the chruch to the reception.  Oh boy, he was all over that and the fact that he got to ride in that 'big tuck'with Madison and Taylor was just the added bonus!  He was so cute and happy!

The reception was so much fun and very crowded!  Collier of course stripped everything off as soon as he could.  Even the shoes came off this time.  Thankfully I brought his crocks.  It wasn't long before Collier was starting to fade and begging to go home.  After we ate I decided to let him dance one dance and see if he wanted to go after that.  Well as soon as his feet hit that dance floor he was set and didn't want to leave.  He boogied the night away.   He was so funny and very into it, he would stare at everyone's feet and try and dance like everyone else.  He even asked for his church shoes back on.  At one point he had a group of people circled around him clapping.
 The Beautiful Bride and Groom

Like I said before, he brought his dancing shoes this weekend.  He had a blast and it was a fabulous weekend and a wonderful time.  We are so happy for Cami and Jason and were thankful to be apart of their very special and fun day!

Just for the recod, Kenley slept through the entire reception in her pumpkin seat.  I did a horrible job taking pictures.  It is much harder to carry around my good camera and keep up with Collier and everything else that was going on.  I regret not taking a single family picture and none of Kenley either.
